Rain Fails to Stop Peekskill 5K Walk/Run for Heroes

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Cloudy skies and scattered showers did little to discourage more than 100 area residents from taking part in Saturday morning's American Legion 5K Walk/Run For Heroes.

The race, which raised money for the American Legion's Operation Comfort Warrior program, started at the Steamfitters union building on McKinley Street in Peekskill and followed a 3.1 mile loop around the downtown before finishing at the Peekskill American Legion Post just down the road from the starting line.

The race was followed by a free barbeque for participants, a medal ceremony, a raffle and live music.
