Formerly of Katonah, Weston's Margaret H. Broudy, 95, Was A Bookstore Owner, Prodigious Reader Margaret H. Broudy of Weston, formerly of Katonah, died at the Regional Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Danbury on Nov. 29 at the stroke of midnight, age 95 ½. She left on her own terms. Margaret (aka Maggie and Margie, depending on which circle of family and friends was in the room) was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lt. Colonel Morris H. “Steve” Broudy, in 2011. Raised in a small mining town in Tennessee, Margaret married Steve, another Southerner, and lived in Georgia for a while, eventually moving to “Yankee Land” in 1964. McDermott, known to everyone as “Polly,” died peacefully with her daughters at her side at the age of 87 on Feb. 27, 2019 at Broad Creek Care Center in Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her two daughters, Megan McDermott (Steven Schafer) and Morna McDermott McNulty (Leonard), and four grandchildren: Merrill Hersam, Maren Hersam, Conor McNulty and Molly McNulty. Polly was born in Philadelphia to Fred and Thelma Bright. She was the middle of three children and had an older sister, Gloria, and younger brother, Freddy, both of whom pre-deceased her.
