The two-alarm fire that destroyed a former popular restaurant that has sat abandoned since it closed in 2001 is under investigation. The Rusty Nail, known for its "hopping" happy hours, was destroyed by the fire during the early morning hours on Thursday in the town of Wallkill. Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Will Be Cut Down From Hudson Valley Home
The Hudson Valley will have a prominent and permanent presence throughout the holiday season in midtown Manhattan. This year's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will be coming from Orange County. The Norway Spruce on the property of a home in the hamlet of Wallkill in the Town of Newburgh is due to be cut down on Thursday, Nov. 8 before arriving in New York City two days later via a flatbed truck. Alert Issued For Man Wanted For False Personation During Speeding Stop
New York State Police are asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted for falsifying business records. James O'Kello, 25, was stopped for speeding in the town of Wallkill. It was later determined that the name that O'Kello used was his brother's and he was, in fact, operating the vehicle. An arrest warrant was issued for his arrest from the Town of Wallkill Court. He is also wanted by the New York City Police Department for false personation. O'Kello is described as being 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. A 28-year-old police officer currently employed in two Hudson Valley towns has been charged with a felony after a lengthy identity theft investigation, state police announced Tuesday. The investigation determined that Maxim Sander obtained merchandise and services using stolen credit information, state police in Middletown said. Sander is currently employed as a police officer in the Orange County communities of Mount Hope and Wallkill. A 16-year-old fugitive wanted for murder was arrested during a stop in the Hudson Valley, state police reported on Saturday, June 30.The teen was wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in Lynn, Massachusetts on Monday, June 23. State Police developed information that Nathaniel Pagan was in the Orange County area on Thursday, June 28. A 17-year-old area teen drowned while swimming in Rondout Creek in High Falls, despite an attempt at rescue by a special water-rescue team. Christopher Pelaez of Wallkill was recovered Tuesday around noon by officers from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the area 18 Bruceville Road in the Town of Marbletown after receiving a distress call. A man who threatened to shoot employees at a Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union bank was nabbed by police for making terroristic threats, according to the Wallkill Police Department. Paul Martin, 54, of Bloomington, was arrested after Wallkill Police received a report around 4 p.m. Thursday, May 24, of a disturbance at the bank at 40 Lloyds Lane, said Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman. A State Police investigation led to the arrest of a man who allegedly sexually abused a child and made an attempt at sexually abusing another. Person Shot Multiple Times At Hudson Valley Sports Bar
State Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday, April 22 outside of a Hudson Valley sports bar. At approximately 3:20 a.m. a person was shot multiple times in the parking lot of JD's Sports Bar on Route 211 in the town of Wallkill and transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Hudson Valley Man Charged With Attempting To Extort Money From Girls
An area man was busted by state police for extorting and attempting to extort money from underage teenage girls. Kenneth H. Ralph, 23, of Wallkill, was arrested on Wednesday grand larceny, attempted grand larceny, unlawfully dealing with a child and petit larceny, said New York State Trooper Steven Nevel. An investigation revealed that Ralph met with several underage teens through social media and gave them alcohol.
