Drunk, Pickaxe-Wielding Man Breaks Into Residence In Region, Attacks Homeowner, Cops Say
A homeowner in the region is no doubt shaken up, but otherwise okay after police said a drunk man wielding a pickaxe broke into his home and attacked him.
Authorities in Sullivan County were called just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, with reports of an assault and attempted robbery at a home in Bethel, located on Mohawk Trail.
State Police determined that the 38-year-old suspect, Daniel Desseauve, of Highland in Ulster County, approached the home carrying a pickaxe and pushed the front door open.
Once inside, he began swinging the ax at the homeowner, according to police.

Man Passed Out In Area Walgreen's Parking Lot In Region Nabbed For DWI/Drugs, Police Say
An area man was charged with DWI/drugs after he was allegedly found passed out in the middle of a Walgreen parking in his vehicle with the motor running.
Sullivan County resident Jason Roberts, age 32, of Forestburgh, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 22, after Monticello Police received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the Walgreen's parking lot.
According to Lt. Mark Johnstone, of the Monticello Police, when officers arrived, Roberts was awakened by the officer and while being handcuffed, physically struggled with the officer before being taken into custody, Johnstone said.…
Wanted NYC Fugitive Nabbed After Attacking Officers, Fleeing On Foot In Area, Police Say
A man wanted in New York City for violating parole was nabbed in the Hudson Valley after he allegedly attacked officers and fled on foot.
Anthony Huertas, 36, of the Bronx, was arrested by Monticello Police on Friday, Dec. 28, around 11:55 p.m., when an officer on patrol on Jefferson Street, saw him standing in the middle of the road with a female, said Lt. Mark Johnstone, with the Monticello Police Department.

Woman Stole More Than $7K at Resorts World Catskills, Police Say
A woman was arrested for stealing more than $7,000 from a guest at the Resorts World Catskills Casino, according to New York State Police.
Andrea Mercer, 33, of the Bronx, was charged with grand larceny Wednesday following an investigation into the theft of the money, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Mercer, a guest at the casino herself, entered the room of another guest at the casino and stole more than $7,000 from that individual, Nevel said.
Mercer was arraigned remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $7,500 cash bail.
