ID Released For Man Killed After Car Goes Off I-84, Into Woods Police have released the identity of a man killed during a single-vehicle crash in the area. It happened on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in Fairfield County. Harold W. Gilligan, 50, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was killed around 1:45 p.m. on I-84 in Newtown, said the Connecticut State Police. According to police, Gilligan was killed when the  2011 Infiniti sedan he was driving ran off the roadway and into a wooded area near Exit 10. Gilligan was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. There were no passengers. The crash remains under investigation.
