New Round Of Storms On Track For Region Amid Scorching Heat: Here's Latest Projected Timing A brand-new round of severe thunderstorms is on track for the region amid what could be one of the hottest stretches of extreme heat in years. The time frame for the latest storm is on Thursday, July 21 from the mid-afternoon to the early evening, according to the National Weather Service. (See the image above.) Humidity will increase on Wednesday, July 20 under sunny skies, and coupled with high temperatures in the low 90s, maximum heat index values will range from the mid 90s to around 100 degrees or more. It will be mostly cloudy throughout the day, with a high temperature in the low 70s and a chance for showers and storms. New Round Of Scattered Thunderstorms Possible After Severe Weather Results In One Fatality The remnants of Hurricane Barry brought severe thunderstorms to the region that resulted in torrential downpours causing flooding, damaging winds, downed trees, and one confirmed fatality. The fatality occurred in Fairfield County when a 21-year-old man was killed when a tree limb and wires fell on his car near the border of Fairfield and Bridgeport about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. The warning went into effect at 4:12 p.m. and lasts until 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 and came as a severe thunderstorm swept through from west to east capable of producing a tornado.
