Hudson Valley Man Known As 'Hot Dog Guy' Dies At Age 80
For the past 18 years the "Hot Dog Guy," has stood on the side of a busy area roadway and waved to passing vehicles, bringing smiles to bypassers.
Sadly, those days have come to an end with the death of Dutchess County staple George Schwartz, the hot dog man's real name, on Friday, June 18 in Lagrangeville.
Schwartz, who was 80, always said he was a "regular guy" who sold hot dogs, his obituary said.
He worked on Route 55 until the end, only stopping when a short illness would not allow him to serve his customers any longer.

IDs Released For Woman Killed, Man Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash
The identities of a woman who was killed and a man who was critically injured during a two-vehicle crash in the area have been released.
Robin Shenitsky, 62, of Pawling, was killed around 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, during the crash on Route 55 in the Town of Pawling near Highland Drive, said Dutchess County Sheriff Capt. John Watterson.
Critically injured was Jorge Rivera, 44, of Poughkeepsie, he added.
According to Watterson, a preliminary investigation found that Rivera, who was driving a 2010 Jeep westbound, was struck head-on by Shenitsky, driving a 2017 Honda Ridgeline.

Two Busted On Weapons Charges Following LaGrange Traffic Stop
Two men were busted on weapons charges following a traffic stop for speeding and failing to keep right.
Austin A. Suarez, 23, of Hudson, and Kawan A. Nunnally, 26, of Albany, were busted on felony weapons possession during a traffic stop around 4 a.m Sunday, Dec. 30, in the Town of LaGrange, according to the Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
During the stop on Route 55, deputies located a handgun inside the vehicle, Watterson said.

Duo Caught With Heroin, Crack, Cash In LaGrange Stop
Two men were busted by state police in Dutchess County in possession of heroin, crack cocaine, cash and other drugs during a routine traffic stop on Route 55.
New York State Police troopers on patrol at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning conducted a traffic stop of a 2006 Nissan in LaGrange, when the driver, Queens resident Omari Laviscount, 28 committed a vehicle and traffic violation.
