A Hudson Valley school district near one of the state’s largest COVID-19 clusters will be keeping students out of the classroom longer to avoid the spread of the virus. Interim East Ramapo Schools Superintendent Ray Giamartino said that all schools in the district will extend its remote learning for the next two weeks, through at least Monday, Oct. 26. There has been an outbreak of COVID-19 at Iona College that has been to a single event. New Rochelle officials warned that there have been more than 60 confirmed COVID-19 cases, confined to the student body, with no indication of a spread to the community. Two more schools in the Hudson Valley are closed for in-person learning after positive cases of COVID-19. The Lakeland Central School District announced on Wednesday evening, Oct. 7 that it was notified earlier in the day that two students were identified as COVID-19 positive, one at Walter Panas High School, and one at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School. Twenty students at Pace University's Westchester campus have tested positive for COVID-19, university officials said. Four students tested positive on Monday, Sept. 21, prompting the university to test nearly 600 community members, according to Pace's director of public affairs, Jerry McKinstry.
