During a Halloween crackdown on impaired drivers, law enforcement agencies in Dutchess County arrested more than two dozen drivers for alleged DWI.
Between Thursday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 3, local, county and state police agencies teamed to increase DWI checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout Dutchess.
In total, 26 arrests were made, 25 of which were for impaired driving. The crackdown was the first of eight planned during the holiday season.

Thousands of Westchester and Putnam residents lost power after storms brought heavy rain and strong wind to the region overnight.
As of 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, Con Edison is responding to 161 reported outages, which were impacting 3,199 of its 348,198 customers in Westchester. NYSEG is dealing with 2,271 of its 32,806 customers who were without power.
In Putnam County, 2,709 of NYSEG’s 38,310 customers were still left in the dark, while Central Hudson was responding to outages impacting 266 of their 5,153 customers in the county.

He was traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of East Fishkill, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

IDs Released For Woman Killed, Man Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash
The identities of a woman who was killed and a man who was critically injured during a two-vehicle crash in the area have been released.
Robin Shenitsky, 62, of Pawling, was killed around 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, during the crash on Route 55 in the Town of Pawling near Highland Drive, said Dutchess County Sheriff Capt. John Watterson.
Critically injured was Jorge Rivera, 44, of Poughkeepsie, he added.
According to Watterson, a preliminary investigation found that Rivera, who was driving a 2010 Jeep westbound, was struck head-on by Shenitsky, driving a 2017 Honda Ridgeline.

Nicholas Tartaglione, the former Hudson Valley police officer facing the death penalty for a quadruple homicide, allegedly strangled the first of his victims with a zip tie, according to federal prosecutors.
New information has been released regarding Tartaglione, a former Briarcliff Manor police officer, who is accused of murdering four men in Orange County in 2016. It’s the first time prosecutors have detailed how the former cop killed one of his four victims.

Yorktown HS Grad James Thompson Dies At 51
A Yonkers native and graduate of Yorktown High School, James M. Thompson Jr., died at his home in Brewster on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at age 51.
Thompson was born on March 11, 1968.
He was an over the road truck driver for Swift Transportation and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. James T. Breen Council #7490 of Sacred Heart in Patterson. He enjoyed working on cars, and fishing said the obituary.
