The body of a 20-year-old Hudson Valley man has been recovered by law enforcement from an area creek after a possible drowning was reported. The incident took place around 6:20 p.m., Tuesday, June 29, when the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, New Hackensack Fire Department, and Town of Wappinger Ambulance to a possible drowning in the Wappinger Creek located behind the Wappingers Falls Trailer Park on New Hackensack Road. Fire Rips Through Home In East Fishkill
An East Fishkill family lost everything in a fire that ravaged the home on Queen Anne Lane. The fire, which started around 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, was first reported as a tractor fire, but when East Fishkill firefighters arrived on scene they found the 3,500-square-foot home was engulfed in smoke and flames, said department officials. The fire reportedly destroyed about 90 percent of the home, but the two residents were able to escape unharmed, said a GoFundMe account set up to help the homeowners. Two-Alarm Wappingers Falls Fire Heavily Damages Home
A home in the Village of Wappingers Falls was devastated by a two-alarm fire, according to fire officials. The fire, which started around 9:27 a.m. at 21 N. Gilmore Blvd., moved quickly but was extinguished by 10 a.m. by members of the Wappingers Falls, Hughsonville, New Hackensack fire departments. A 27-year-old Wappinger man is behind bars after fleeing the scene of a fatal crash that occurred on Route 376 in the Town of Wappinger on Saturday night, Feb. 17, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said.
