30 Goats Loose In Mahopac Road Herded Back Into Pen By 'K9 Cowboy' A total of thirty goats that managed to escape their pen and block a Hudson Valley roadway were herded back home thanks to the help of a trusty K9 officer. The flock of goats made its escape in Putnam County on Monday, Sept. 25, when a Carmel Police officer found 30 of the animals loose in a Mahopac Falls road, completely blocking it.  Luckily, the officer was accompanied by his K9 partner, Pietro, who saw the moment as a perfect opportunity to live up to his German Shepherd name.  Soon enough, Pietro rounded up the goats and helped corral them back into their pen, a moment that was captu…

1-Car Crash Shuts Down Road In Mahopac A road in the Hudson Valley was briefly closed after a vehicle slammed into trees and a small dirt hill.  The crash happened in Mahopac Falls on Wednesday, Jan. 18 around 3:30 p.m. on Secor Road, according to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department.  The road was shut down for a short period of time while the damaged vehicle was towed away and medics tended to the driver.  After the scene was cleared, the road was able to be reopened right after 3:45 p.m.

Area Resident Who Served In Marines Dies At Age 46 A Hudson Valley native and former Marine who died at the age of 46 is being remembered for his giving heart and love for his family. The blaze began in Putnam County shortly before midnight on Monday, Dec. 23 at an East Court home in Mahopac Falls, fire officials said. One Hospitalized In Two-Car Crash On Route 6N One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Route 6N in Mahopac Falls. The crash took place Friday, March 22, at Route 6N and Hill Street, said Jack Casey, spokesman for the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Carmel Police units were on the scene as fire units arrived. EMS began triage as fire police took over traffic, freeing up CPD to investigate the crash, Casey said. One person was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.  As the vehicles were cleared from the roadway, fire police assisted with traffic.
