Man Clinging To Kayak Without Life Jacket Rescued In Long Island Sound
A 27-year-old man holding on to his kayak without a life jacket was rescued in the Long Island Sound It happened on Wednesday, July 8 at around 11 p.m. off the coast of Oyster Bay, approximately half mile from Center Island, Nassau County Police said. Nassau County Marine Bureau 5 discovered the man yelling for help. He was then recovered from the water by Marine Bureau and brought back to shore. He was treated by Nassau County medical personnel and in stable condition.

Five Rescued From Capsized Boat In Long Island Sound
Five people were rescued after their boat overturned in the Long Island Sound. The incident happened Tuesday, July 7 at about 4:30 p.m. off the coast of Crab Meadow Beach in Fort Salonga in Suffolk County. Upon arriving, Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers Dave Froehlich and Patrick Ennis found the five, all men, standing on the underside of a recreational 21-foot Pro-Line vessel that overturned after being struck by a wave approximately 20 minutes earlier. Officials have identified the person killed when a 17-foot-boat overturned in Long Island Sound. Eul Lee, 64, from Fort Lee, New Jersey, was killed during a boating accident in Long Island Sound on Sunday, Nov. 3, said the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection State Environmental Conservation Police. A man out for a little nighttime fishing on the Long Island Sound hooked a brown shark instead. Fisherman John Skinner, of Greenport, was fishing Saturday, Aug. 24, in Southold for bluefish when he hooked a large brown shark up against some rocks. A YouTube video shows the shark and the entire 20 minute battle with the fish. Because the brown shark is prohibited in New York, he immediately released it. Man Has Leg Amputated After Contracting Flesh-Eating Bacteria On LI Sound
A 68-year-old man had to have his leg amputated after contracting flesh-eating bacteria while swimming at Hammonasset Beach State Park on the Long Island Sound in Madison, Connecticut, about 25 miles east of New Haven.
