Those spending time outside in Westchester should pack some bug repellent, as mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus have been found throughout the county, health officials announced. According to an announcement from the Westchester County Health Department on Tuesday, July 30, the season's first batches of mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus were found in: Croton; Mount Vernon; Rye; White Plains; Yonkers. Recall Issued For Multiple Eye Ointment Brands Due To Possible Risk Of Infection
A recall has been issued for multiple brands of eye ointment products due to the "lack of sterility assurance at the facility" of the manufacturer during an inspection conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). "For those patients who use these products, there is a potential risk of eye infections or related harm," the FDA said. "These products are intended to be sterile. Injured Student Airlifted From Area Elementary School, Police Say
Police rushed to the scene at an area school after a report of an injured student. Fishkill Police said officers responded to the Brinckerhoff Elementary School around 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 20, for a student who suffered an unspecified injury and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. The school is located at 16 Wedgewood Road in Fishkill. School officials were not available for comment. Additional information or details were not immediately available. This is a developing story. High temperatures in the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday combined with high humidity will make it feel as high as 110 degrees in some parts of the area. (See image above.) A Heat Advisory issued by the National Weather Service will be in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29.
