MLB Lifts Bans On All-Time Hits Leader Pete Rose, 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson
In a groundbreaking and unanticipated decision, Major League Baseball (MLB) Commissioner Rob Manfred has removed all-time greats Pete Rose and “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, among others, from the permanently ineligible list.
This potentially paves the way for their induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
Rose, a switch-hitting infielder/outfielder, is MLB's all-time leader in hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053) and singles (3,215).

The stop came in the form of a third-prize-winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000, which was sold at the gas station at 160 North Central Ave. in Elmsford for the drawing on Monday, April 21, New York Lottery officials announced.
The $50,000 prize is awarded for matching four white balls and the red Powerball. The winning numbers were drawn live at 10:59 p.m., as part of the game’s regular schedule held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
Another winning $50,000 ticket was sold in Staten Island, officials said.

Five individuals, including a former New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer, were indicted following an investigation into an alleged illegal online sports betting ring.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced on Thursday, Nov. 7 that the news comes after a 14-month investigation involving wiretaps and surveillance.
The investigation, which began in July 2023, allegedly uncovered an illegal sportsbook operation running from September 2023 to April 2024.
