A routine traffic stop in Northern Westchester turned into a significant drug bust after a man tried to run from police, authorities announced.
The incident happened on Monday, Jan. 6, around 2:30 a.m., when Peekskill Police Officer Justin Quiles conducted a traffic stop on the 10 block of Nelson Avenue, the Peekskill Police Department announced on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
As the vehicle came to a stop, a male occupant got out and began running away, the department said.

A traffic stop in Westchester led to the arrest of a man accused of selling illegal drugs, including fentanyl, meth, and crack.
The stop was made around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Mount Vernon when New York State Police troopers pulled over a 2009 Acura RL for several violations of the vehicle and traffic law in the city of Mount Vernon, on 1st Street.
