Firefighter Falls Through Floor While Battling Blaze At North Salem Home A firefighter fell through a floor during the response to a blaze at a Northern Westchester residence. The blaze began on Tuesday, Oct. 29 inside the laundry room at a North Salem home on Nash Road, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews soon began dousing the flames with hose lines and started making their way inside. However, while firefighters were battling the blaze inside, one member fell through the floor, prompting a mayday transmission.  The firefighter was soon found, though, and removed from the building with minor injuries. Fire Leaves Westchester Restaurant 'Significantly Damaged,' Causes Closure On Busy Road A blaze at a Westchester restaurant damaged the building and left part of a busy road closed to traffic.  The fire happened on Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, when a blaze broke out at a building housing the Tarry Tavern at 27 Main St. in Tarrytown, according to village officials.  The blaze was eventually put out with no injuries thanks to the efforts of the Tarrytown Fire Department and several other agencies from the area, officials said. Car Engulfed In Flames On Taconic Parkway In Northern Westchester A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

Car Rolls Over On Road In Mahopac, Causes Temporary Closure One lane of a Hudson Valley road was temporarily closed after a car flipped, firefighters said. The crash happened in Putnam County on Friday, Oct. 18 just before 8 a.m., when a vehicle flipped at the intersection of Hill Street and Lakeside Road in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department.  Arriving first responders evaluated the driver. However, they declined any medical attention.  One lane of traffic was closed for a short time while crews operated at the crash scene.  The cause of the crash was not released.

Car Rolls Down Hill Into Building, Ditch In Northern Westchester A building in Northern Westchester was damaged after a car rolled down a hill and crashed into it before ending up in a ditch.  The crash happened on Friday, Oct. 4 in Mount Kisco, when an unattended vehicle rolled through a grass field, through a garden, and into the corner of a garage on Brookside Avenue, according to Independent Fire Co. #13 of the Mount Kisco Fire Department. After hitting the garage, the car then rolled down an embankment, firefighters said. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was later towed away and the area was cordoned off.
