Flu Shot Protects Against Severe Covid-19 Effects, Study Finds A new study found that the flu vaccine might provide people with some protection against severe cases of COVID-19. The findings were published on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in a study by physician-scientists at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.  Researchers analyzed patients records from around the world and found that the flu vaccine "reduces the risks of stroke, sepsis, and DVT in patients with COVID-19." Norovirus Reported At Vassar Brothers Medical Center A single case of norovirus has been confirmed at Vassar Brothers Medica Center in Poughkeepsie, but the center does not believe there is an "outbreak." "We had a suspected case of norovirus come in through our Emergency Department on Feb. 14, said John R. Nelson, Director of Public and Community Affairs for Health Quest. Man Punches Staffer In Head At Emergency Room Of Area Hospital, Police Say A 37-year-old man is behind bars and facing a felony charge after punching a staff member in the head at Nyack Montefiore Hospital, Orangetown Police said. Police responded to the Emergency Department of Nyack Montefiore Hospital located at 160 North Midland Avenue in the Village of Nyack at around 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5.  The victim reported being punched with a closed fist, causing a laceration to the victim’s head which needed medical treatment.
