Alert Issued For Possible Rabid Skunks In Hudson Valley Town Residents in one Hudson Valley town are being warned that aggressive skunks have been seen in the area and may be rabid. The incidents took place in Dutchess County in the area of Rochdale Road in the town of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, Oct. 30, and Tuesday, Nov. 1, said the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health. The department said it is important not to approach or come in contact with wild animals. Covid-19: High School Staffer In Area Tests Positive A staff member at a high school in the area has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The staffer notified Poughkeepsie High School on Sunday, March 22 of a positive diagnosis, said Irwin M. Goldberg, spokesperson for the Poughkeepsie School District. Based on the facts received, the staff member was exposed to COVID-19 by someone outside of the high school community and sought testing after being notified of their potential exposure, Goldberg said.
