150+ Fire Reports Spark Major Recall Of 2.9M Attic Fan Motors
Nearly three million attic fan motors sold nationwide are being recalled after more than 150 reports of fires. Air Vent Inc. issued the recall for about 2.9 million electric motors used in gable- and roof-mounted attic fans, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, Aug. 28. The recall covers five different model numbers listed on the CPSC's website. According to the recall notice, the motors' safety cutoff can fail, creating a risk of short circuit and fire. New Update: Buses To Replace Suspended Metro-North Trains After Storms In Northern Westchester
In the aftermath of severe storms that left Hudson Line tracks covered in water and debris, Metro-North officials have announced that a limited bus service will replace suspended trains in the Hudson Valley. The limited bus service will begin serving the Hudson Line at around 1 p.m. on Monday, July 10, and will make stops between the Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie stations, MTA officials announced. 19: School In Area Closes Due To Positive Case
A school in the area is closed for 10 days for in-person learning after a positive case of COVID-19. J.V. Forrestal Elementary School in Beacon will conduct remote learning through Wednesday, Nov. 11, Beacon City School District Superintendent Matt Landahl said in a letter to the community. In-person learning is scheduled to resume Thursday, Nov. 12. Children only need to quarantine if they receive direct communication from the district, Landahl said.
