Man Barricades Himself Into Mahopac Apartment With Fake Handgun: Police A 23-year-old man was taken into custody after barricading himself in a Hudson Valley apartment with what appeared to be a handgun, police announced. The incident began in Putnam County on Monday, Feb. 19 around 10:20 p.m., when residents told authorities that they had seen a neighbor flash a black handgun in a threatening manner before fleeing to his apartment on East Lake Boulevard (Route 72) in Mahopac, according to Carmel Police.  Police soon arrived and established a perimeter around the apartment while also evacuating adjacent units. At about 10:43 p.m. on Friday, July 20, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to 208 Old Route 22 in the Town of Amenia for a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute involving a man in possession of a firearm.
