Walden Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty After Dog Dies Trapped In Hot Car WALDEN, N.Y. – A Walden woman is facing animal cruelty charges after her dog was killed when it was left trapped in a hot car outside a Newburgh Motel in August, according to the Times Herald-Record. Jamie Conroy-Nugent, 35, left her mixed Staffordshire terrier, Zelda, in the car for more than two hours on a day when temperatures exceeded 90 degrees. Montgomery Police Say Aging Cruisers Could Become A Problem MONTGOMERY, N.Y. – The Montgomery Police Department says the advancing age of its fleet of cruisers hasn't presented a problem in the field, but that it is only a matter of time before it does, according to the Times Herald-Record. The Town received a letter from an attorney representing the Montgomery PBA that said squad cars are up to 10 years old with some having as many as 140,000 miles on them. Central Hudson Agrees To Change Service Shutoff Practices ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. – Central Hudson has agreed to make changes to its service cancellation policies for customers who owe money, according to the Times Herald-Record. The utility provider said it will prioritize shutting off service to accounts with the highest and oldest past due balances. Timothy Harding, 56, Former Cornwall Baseball Standout CORNWALL, N.Y. – Former Cornwall resident and athletic standout Timothy Harding died on Friday, Sept. 8 at his home in Florida. He was 54 years old. The son of Patrick Joseph Harding and the late Maurie Panzer Harding, Harding was one of twins born on Nov. 17, 1962 at St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers. His twin, Kathleen Ann, passed away at the age of 7 in 1970. Feds Overrule State DEC; Greenlights Gas Pipeline To Middletown Plant MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has thrown out a New York state Department of Environmental Conservation decision to deny a water quality permit on Friday. The ruling will allow construction to commence on a gas pipeline that will connect to the CPV Valley Energy Center in Middletown, according to the Times Herald-Record. The FERC said the New York State DEC waived its right to deny the permit because it failed to act within a year of Millenium Pipeline Company's application, the Record reported. Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Tuxedo This Story Has been updated. TUXEDO, N.Y. – A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing near Route 17 and Arden Valley Road. Two occupants were on board the plane, including the pilot. No injuries were reported. The plane is believed to have suffered some kind of mechanical failure, according to Patch.com.
