Crews Demolish Vacant Port Jervis Home PORT JERVIS, N.Y. – Crews knocked down a decaying house in The Acre section of Port Jervis on Friday after it was deemed unsafe, according to the Times Herald-Record. Mayor Kelly Decker called an emergency meeting of the Common Council, who agreed to knock the structure down. Building official David Rivera said the house was collapsing and infested with bugs, the Record reported. The city hopes to sell the land, the Record said. Middletown Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 2 Kids In New Jersey MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – A Middletown man broke into a Wantage Township, N.J. home and sexually assaulted two children last month, according to New Jersey State Police. Craig Lassiter, 33, broke into the home on Sept. 18 just after 2 a.m. and entered the bedroom of two minors. He then threatened the victims by telling them he had a gun and sexually assaulted them, New Jersey State Police said. Middletown Holds Off Port Jervis In OT; Keeps Erie Bell For Fourth Year PORT JERVIS, N.Y. – Middletown needed a little extra time to hang on to the Erie Bell for the fourth consecutive year, but an overtime field goal sealed a 24-21 win over Port Jervis on Saturday, according to the Times Herald-Record. The Middies built a 21-0 lead in New York State's oldest rivalry, but the Raiders stormed back to tie the game. Sam Ziak drilled the 18-yard chip shot in overtime to give Middletown the win, the Record reported. The Middies improved to 3-3 while the Raiders fell to 4-2. New Windsor Couple Sentenced In 'Family Ties' Drug Bust NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – A New Windsor husband and wife both received sentencing on Thursday for their roles in the "Family Ties" drug sweep throughout the area, according to the Times Herald-Record. Ruben Cruz, 53, will serve up to six years in prison after second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. His wife, Nancy Cruz, 46, was facing stiffer charges but pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and will be released with time served, the Record said. Port Jervis Man Pleads Not Guilty To Charges Of Sexually Assaulting A Child PORT JERVIS, N.Y. – A Port Jervis man pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a child on Friday, according to the Times Herald-Record. Several Pine Bush Students Treated For Minor Injuries Following Bus Crash PINE BUSH, N.Y. – Several Pine Bush students were treated for minor injuries after a school bus crashed into a guardrail on Route 302 on Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred just after 2:30 p.m. near Thompson Ridge. The students on board were evaluated at the scene by EMS and the Pine Bush Volunteer Fire Department.
