“They can be a practical alternative,’’ said Ward. “It’s a great option for people who do not want to manage outdoor upkeep. For empty-nesters, working professionals and young people looking to make their first purchase, condos can be a great choice. They are generally taxed lower than single family homes.”
Ward said Mystic Pointe in Ossining, developed in the late 1990s by Ginsburg Development Corporation, is a popular Ossining destination for condo owners. These are luxury style condominiums located on 42 acres of beautifully landscaped property. There are terrific views of the Hudson River and a wooded gorge with a nature trail to the river. Fine amenities include a pool, tennis court, and clubhouse with fitness center and party room.
Mystic Pointe also provides transportation to the Croton-Harmon train station with a “jitney.” The little bus transports residents to the train station for the 45-minute ride to Grand Central.
Valeria, another local community in Cortlandt, has easy access to Metro-North, is 30 minutes from White Plains and is on over 700 acres of property with a Pond for fishing and canoeing. The many fine amenities include a pool, tennis courts and fitness center that is soon to be renovated, a clubhouse with a ballroom and a nature trail that borders Dickerson Pond.
There are three Homeowner Associations at Valeria with very distinct architectural differences in the buildings that house the residents and all three associations share the outstanding recreational facilities and the grounds.
"There are a variety of condominium and town home complexes in our area offering conveniences that make this lifestyle very attractive to a large cross section of the population. And with interest rates still so low, it is an option worth considering." Ward said.
