Jan-Michael Mohan, 29, of Festorville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Monday, April 15, after the victim was able to leave the home and notify police of the attack, said Town of Poughkeepsie Capt. Kevin Faber.

According to Faber, Hohan made entry into the residence without permission and during an argument placed his hands around her neck while applying pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Mohan also refused to let the victim leave during the incident and threatened her with additional harm if she attempted to leave, Faber said.

He ultimately allowed her to leave, at which point she contacted police. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Mohan was located a few hours later with the assistance of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and was arrested.

He was charged with burglary, criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment.

Mohan was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond.
