PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A call from a motorist reporting a one-car accident on Old Crompond Road in Yorktown led to the arrest of a Peekskill man on a charge of driving under the influence, according to authorities.
According to police, Julio Coronel, 31, was driving drunk when he hit a power pole while driving southbound. When police arrived at the scene, they found that Coronel, who was slightly injured, was operating the vehicle without a license, police said. An investigation into the accident led to additional charges of failing to maintain lane and speeding, police said.
After being treated at Hudson Valley Hospital, Coronel was transported to police headquarters, where he was released to a family member on $100 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 21.
