Margaret J. Kowalski, 93, Former Peekskill School Secretary

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Margaret J. Kowalski, a longtime resident of Peekskill died on Thursday, Sept.10. She was 93.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1921 in Knoxville, Tenn. to Dewey and Eva Osborn Sanders.

Kowalski was the secretary at the Peekskill Middle School for 27 years, retiring in 1997.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Edward) Benvenga; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kowalski; brother, Carl (Karen) Naber; eight grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Kowalski is predeceased by her husband, John Kowalski; son, William Kowalski; step-son, John Kowalski, Jr.; step-daughter, Joanne Giroux; and two brothers, James and Dewey Sanders. 

Visitation is at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept.15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of the Assumption in Peekskill on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
