PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Field Gallery will present Peekskill artist Maureen Winzig in "Promise of Spring," a collection of vivid and luminous watercolor paintings.
The exhibit will be from Feb. 6 to March 27. The opening reception is Saturday, Feb. 6, from 1-4 p.m.
"Working with watercolor allows me to reach into a more expressive, looser style." Winzig sais. "This work is an expression of my joy that spring will eventually return. Spring gives me reason to hope for better and brighter things to come, making (the) dark days of winter easier. This is an exciting series for me pushing my boundaries yet again. "
Winzig studied fine art, graphic art and web design at SUNY Westchester; illustration, web design and commercial art from Pace University and studied painting with artists Ed Burke and Andrew Lattimore.
She is now the President of the Peekskill Arts Alliance and is one of the continued architects of the revitalization of the arts community of Peekskill.
Established in 2007, the Peekskill Field Gallery highlights exceptional work in art and photography by regional and national artists.
