NY Firefighter, Father Of 3 Killed In Blaze Remembered As 'Fearless, Dedicated' Public Servant A firefighter and father of three who was killed battling a blaze in upstate New York is being remembered for his dedication to the community. Binghamton Fire Department member John “JR” Gaudet, 40, was gravely injured when a wall collapsed during a firefight on the city’s Main Street on Wednesday night, Feb. 12, the agency confirmed. The 11-year veteran of the department later died at Wilson Hospital. Two other firefighters were hospitalized and listed in stable condition. 10th US Victim ID'd In Crash That Killed Five Members Of Westchester Family The 10th American fatality in a crash that claimed the lives of 12, including all five members of a Westchester family on Sunday afternoon in northwestern Costa Rica has been identified. The final U.S. citizen killed was Amanda Geissler, a trip leader of the Backroads Active Travel Company, said company spokeswoman Liz Einbinder. Geissler, a Utah native, was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The 33-year-old Geissler had been working with Backroads since May.
