Crews from the Tarrytown Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Oh, Deer! Firefighters Make Quite A Rescue On Frozen Hudson Valley Lake It was quite the afternoon for Sleepy Hollow Fire Chief John Korzelius when he crawled out onto a lake to rescue a deer stranded on a frozen lake in Pocantico Hills. The department received the call about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday about a wobbly deer who was slipping and sliding on the ice trying to get to back to land. Sleepy Hollow firefighters, along with Pocantico Hills firefighters were able to rescue the deer by tying ropes around Korzelius, a video of the rescue shows.
