Man Killed After Stolen-Vehicle Route 9 Chase Ends In Crash
A 38-year-old man allegedly driving a stolen motorcycle was killed following a chase that ended in a two-vehicle crash in Northern Westchester. The chase ended around 4:15 p.m., Sunday, April 3, after New York State Police attempted to make a traffic stop of a stolen 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle at the Annsville Circle in the town of Cortlandt, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Tractor-Trailer Crash Knocks Out Power In Ossining
Traffic is getting back to normal following a truck crash that took out power lines and knocked out electricity in Northern Westchester. The crash took place during the early morning hours in Ossining on Wednesday, March 11, on Route 9 near Havel Street. Ossining Police said on Twitter that currently, all southbound lanes and one northbound lane have reopened. Con Edison expects to have power restored to some 400 customers affected by Wednesday afternoon. Information was not available on the condition of the driver.

Ossining Man Nabbed For Illegal Gun Possession After Traffic Stop
A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Northern Westchester man who was unlawfully in possession of a handgun in Dutchess County, State police said. New York State Police troopers in Wappinger conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Honda Civic at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Route 9 when they say driver committed a traffic violation. Police Issue 41 Tickets In Northern Westchester Speeding Detail
More than three dozen tickets were dished out by New York State Police troopers in the area during a special speed detail in Northern Westchester. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, troopers handed out 41 tickets along the Route 9 corridor during the targeted enforcement period in Cortlandt. Thirty-five of the 41 tickets were issued for speed-related infractions. There will be double-lane closures on a busy roadway in the area for several hours this week. The New York State Department of Transportation issued alert warning motorists that a double-lane closure has been scheduled in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Route 9 southbound lanes at Route 113 (Spackenkill Road), on Thursday, Jan. 30, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., while crews perform maintenance activities. Police are investigating a bias crime after a large cross was destroyed on a mountain in the area. The incident involved graffiti and vandalism to the cross, which can usually be seen from Honness Mountain in the area of Brooks Road in Fishkill for miles, including from Route 9 to the west and I-84 to the south. New York State Police troopers removed two dozen motorists from area roadways during the extended Veterans Day holiday weekend. Local residents charged include: Westchester County On Saturday, Nov. 9, State Police from Cortlandt arrested Otis L. Martin, 36, of Croton-on-Hudson, for DWI. Man Found Dead After Fire At Home In Area
A man was found dead after a fire destroyed a home in the area. The man was found after flames devoured the mobile home in Putnam County in the Post Road Mobile Home Park on Route 9 in Philipstown, around 3:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 4. Once the blaze was out, first responders with the North Highlands Fire Department found the man, who had been badly burned, Putnam County Sheriff's Department Capt. Police have identified one of two men involved in an alleged armed carjacking of a taxi driver in Westchester County who was apprehended in Cortlandt.
