Driver Rescued After Rollover Crash In Hudson Valley During Storm Amid a wintry Nor'easter, first responders were tasked with rescuing a driver who became trapped in their vehicle as the result of a rollover at a Hudson Valley intersection.  The rollover happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Jan. 7 around 7:30 a.m., when a vehicle overturned on its side in Carmel at the intersection of Hill and Dale Road (Route 44) and Fair Street (Route 60), according to the Carmel Fire Department.  Arriving first responders soon found that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle and worked to extricate them. Police ID Two Men, Woman Hospitalized After Wrong-Way Head-On Crash Police have identified three people hospitalized in a wrong-way, head-on crash that caused the closure of a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway this week. It happened on the southbound side around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 in Pleasant Valley just south of Exit 54 (Route 44). An investigation revealed a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter, operated by Jim George, 42, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was driving north in the southbound lanes and struck a 2017 Subaru Impreza, state police said. A stretch of the Taconic State Parkway has reopened after a motor-vehicle crash caused its closure during the morning commute Friday, March 22. The southbound closure began around 7 a.m. just south of Route 44 in Pleasant Valley at Rossway Road. The roadway reopened about a half-hour later. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Monthslong Lane Closure Starts On Taconic State Parkway There will be single lane closures for several months on the Taconic Parkway in Dutchess County as crews complete construction work in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that beginning on Friday, Aug. 10, there will be single lane closures on the southbound lanes of the parkway between Route 44 and Route 55 in LaGrange.
