6-Year-Old Struck By Car While Riding Electric Scooter In Area A 6-year-old boy riding an electric scooter was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Rockland County on Saturday. The incident occurred at around 1:50 p.m. in front of a home on Waldron Terrace in Sloatsburg, Ramapo Police said. The boy was operating the scooter on his driveway when he ventured into the roadway and was struck by a 2006 Toyota, police said.  The boy, who was wearing his helmet, received a minor injury to his hand. Car Hits Pole Then Crashes Into House In Area Ramapo Police are on the scene of a crash in which the vehicle hit a utility pole and then plowed into a home in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. The incident took place around 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at 277 Crooked Hill Road, the Ramapo Police said. According to police, a car traveling south on N. Westchester Gymnastics Coach Charged With Several Sex Offenses A popular local gymnastics coach who owned gyms across the area has been arrested on five counts of sexual conduct against a child under 13, according to Ramapo police. Police said Joseph Lewin, 67, of Port Chester, also known as Joseph Lewandoski in the 1990s, abused children from 2001 to 2014. They also suspect that he may have sexually abused teens 16 and up as well.
