'Person In Crisis' Hospitalized After Hours-Long Standoff In Area, Police Say A person described as being "in crisis" was hospitalized following an hours-long standoff with responders at a residence in the area. At about 10:50 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 in Putnam County, the Carmel Police Department received a call to check on the welfare of a person in crisis at a residence on Union Valley Road.  The subject has had a history of mental health issues and was known to not respond to officers when attempting to make contact with them at the residence, Town of Carmel Police Department Lieutenant Stephen Kunze said. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23,  when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain. Man, 20, Barricades Himself Inside Carmel Home, Police Say A local man who barricaded himself inside his Carmel home, threatening to hurt himself, was coaxed out by the Carmel Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. Officers were altered to the situation on Bullet Hole Road in Mahopac around 6:20 p.m. Sunday when they were asked to perform a welfare check on the man who was possibly suicidal, police said.
