Ossining Police Department Names Interim Leader After Chief's Retirement Weeks after their longtime chief announced his retirement, a police department in Northern Westchester has sworn in his interim replacement.  On Wednesday night, Dec. 20, the Ossining Police Department swore in Captain Brendan Donohue as interim Chief of Police, the department announced.  Donohue takes over for former Chief Kevin Sylvester, who announced his retirement on Thursday, Dec. 7 after more than two decades with the department. Ossining First In State To Install Gender-Neutral Village Hall Signage A village in Northern Westchester has become the first municipality in the state to install gender-neutral signage in all its facilities. The idea came at an Ossining Documentary and Discussion Series program, when “it occurred to Mayor Victoria Gearity  that the Village may have a role to play in improving the lives of transgender and gender neutral people," the village said.
