Symbols of hate were reportedly found on campus at a high school in Northern Westchester. The symbols, including a swastika and a racial slur, were found on grounds at Ossining High School, Town Supervisor Dana Levenberg said in a statement on Thursday, Oct. 31. Police Investigate Apparent Noose Found In Ossining Park
The Ossining Police Department is investigating an apparent noose that was found at a popular local park. The village issued an update at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 after becoming aware of a string hanging from a tree in Louis Engel Waterfront Park that appeared to be tied in a noose. Ossining Mayor Victoria Gearity said that police immediately began an investigation and the chief has met with members of the local clergy and NAACP. Randy E. Jefferson of Peekskill died on Tuesday, July 16. He was 59 years old. Randy was born in Windsor, NC to Thomas and Viola Jefferson. He was baptized in the Star Bethlehem Baptist Church. Police in Westchester are beefing up patrols at a nearby elementary school after a black bear was spotted making the rounds in the front yard of an area home. The Ossining Police Department released a video that was shot in the morning on Thursday, June 20 on Oakbrook Road. A man was killed in an early morning one-car crash on a busy roadway in Northern Westchester. The crash on Saturday, June 8 caused the hourslong closure where Routes 9 and 9A merge near the Croton River Bridge in Ossining. Several people were hospitalized over the weekend after being slashed by an assailant outside a deli in Westchester. Police in Westchester are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that left a man hospitalized. Officers from the Ossining Police Department responded to a reported shooting at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 on Van Cortland Street, near the Cortlandt Ridge housing complex. A 24-year-old Northern Westchester woman killed in a car crash on Sunday has been identified. Ruth Alexandra Cajamarca-Paccha of Ossining was killed around 7:42 a.m. Sunday during a head-on crash on Route 9 just south of Sleepy Hollow Road in Briarcliff Manor, said Mount Pleasant Police Capt. Person Hit By Tree Branch In Ossining
This story has been updated. A person was hit by a tree branch late Thursday morning, Ossining Police said. Police received the call at 11:42 a.m. at 214 N. Highland Ave. in Ossining, police said. One lane of Highland Avenue was closed to traffic as firefighters and EMS worked to help the person. Ossining Police Chief Kevin Sylvester declined to provide additional information.
