Ossining Woman Injures Officer After Refusing To Leave Arena, Police Say
A Westchester County woman was arrested on Long Island after she refused to leave UBS Arena, injuring an officer in the process. The Nassau County incident took place in Elmont on Tuesday, June 11. At about 11:50 p.m., police arrived at UBS Arena, located at 2400 Hempstead Turnpike. Nancy Zhingri, a 31-year-old from Ossining, was reportedly refusing to leave the sports and concert venue, despite multiple lawful commands. George R. "Dick" Clarke, a native of Northern Westchester, died at the age of 99 in hospice care after a "long and full life." Born in 1925 in Ossining to William C. and Edith R. Clarke, George Clarke attended St. Augustine Parochial School and Ossining Jr./Sr. High School. Well-known throughout the area, Clarke graduated from Manhattan College with a bachelor of electrical engineering degree and worked for more than 40 years for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, with 20 years being in the International Division traveling the world, his obituary said. A blaze at a Northern Westchester auto body shop proved to be quite a challenge for first responders. The incident happened on Monday evening, June 10, when a fire began at an auto body shop on Hunter Street in Ossining, according to the town's police department. A man died at a hospital following a fire at a residence in Northern Westchester. The blaze happened on Tuesday, May 7 in Ossining in the area of Liberty Street and Spring Street, where a multi-floor residence went up in flames, according to Ossining Police.
