Man Who Stepped Out Of Vehicle After Crash With Deer Struck, Killed By SUV In Hudson Valley A 70-year-old man was hit and killed by an SUV  when he stepped out of a vehicle to inspect the damage after hitting a deer. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 6:40 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 in the town of Mamakating, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police. According to Nevel, troopers responded to Route 209 for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.  A preliminary investigation revealed that Orange County resident James F. Hudson Valley Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Juvenile Victims At Daycare/Foster Care Homes A Hudson Valley man has been arrested for allegedly sexually multiple juvenile victims at daycare and in foster homes. Orange County resident John Olson, age 59, of the town of Warwick, was charged while incarcerated at the Delaware County Jail. An exact date of his arrest was not provided. The incidents are alleged to have occurred at a daycare/foster care home in the town of Warwick in Orange County and the town of Andes in Delaware County, the New York State Police said. NYC Resident Accused Of Starting Wildfire In Region A New York City resident allegedly violated the statewide brush burn ban which caused a wildland fire in the region.  On Tuesday, March 22 at 4:15 p.m., state forest rangers responded to an open burn in Sullivan County off Route 209 in the town of Mamakating, said the state Department of Environmental Conservation. A 41-year-old Manhattan resident was burning brush and had left the fire unattended, DEC officials said. Due to high winds and dry conditions, the fire spread to approximately 2.5 acres of land. One Killed, One Seriously Injured In Single-Engine Plane Crash In Hudson Valley One man was killed and another seriously injured in a single-engine plane crash in the area. It happened on Friday, June 5 at approximately 7:10 p.m. at the Wurtsboro–Sullivan County Airport in the town of Mamakating.  The two occupants of the single-engine challenger plane were both licensed pilots, State Police said.  Eddy R. Santana, 41, of Wurtsboro was found dead at the scene, according to police. ID Released For 23-Year-Old Killed In Area Crash A 23-year-old man who was killed during a crash in the Hudson Valley that also injured four other people has been identified. The crash took place around 11:40 p.m. Saturday on on Route 17 east of exit 112 in the Mamakating, said the New York State Police. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Civic, operated by Sayra Lemus, 22, of Fallsburg was traveling east on Route 17. Witnesses said that an unidentified vehicle entered into the lane of travel of the Honda Civic.
