Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade To Return 'Live' This Year
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is returning to the streets of New York City for its 95th celebration after being curtailed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Macy's made the announcement on Wednesday, Sept. 8, saying the parade will be delight crowds once again on Thursday, Nov. 25 beginning at 9 a.m.
This year's parade will feature the signature mix of giant character helium balloons, fantastic floats, marching bands, performance groups, celebrities, clowns, and the one-and-only Santa Claus, Macy's said.

14-Year-Old Turns Himself In After Shooting At Danbury Mall
A 14-year-old Fairfield County boy has turned himself in to police as being the shooter at an area mall that left a teenage girl shot in the chest.
The shooting took place around 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, near the entrance to Macy's at Danbury Fair Mall during a confrontation between two groups of teens, authorities said.
One person, described as a tall, thin male with dreadlocks who may be in his early teens, took out a gun and fired a single shot, which struck the teenager, Danbury Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour said.

Victim In Danbury Mall Shooting May Have Been Involved In Melee, Police Say
A 15-year-old who was shot inside a Fairfield County mall was likely part of the altercation that took place between at least eight people with another group, according to authorities.
The teen, who remains unidentified, has been transferred to Connecticut Children's Hospital and is in stable condition, said Danbury Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour. Police had originally reported her age as 16.

Woman Accused Of Stealing $5K In Items From Northern Westchester Store
A 60-year-old Westchester woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $5,000 in items from an area Macy's.
Yolanda Emery, of Yonkers, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 18, for the incident which took place on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Macy's store at 700 Lee Blvd., in Yorktown, said the Yorktown Police.
According to police, officers responded to the store on a complaint that an unknown woman had stolen $5,000 worth of merchandise.
Following an investigation, Emery was identified as a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued, police said.

Woman Stole More Than $5K From Northern Westchester Macy's, Police Say
A Dutchess County resident was arrested for allegedly shoplifting more than $5,000 in merchandise from a Northern Westchester Macy's.
Nima Simpson, 31, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 28, by Yorktown Police for the incident which took place in August 2020, police said.
An investigation found that Simpson stole $5,503 worth of goods from the store, police said.
Simpson, who was charged with grand larceny, turned herself in to police and was released on her own recognizance.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Feb. 4.

A trio from Westchester and Fairfield County were nabbed allegedly stealing more than $2K in goods from Macy's at the Jefferson Valley Mall.
Tonya Hanner, 54, of Mount Vernon, Damon Jones, 47, of Mount Vernon, and Cleon Clark, of Stamford, were arrested around 6:40 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 21, after officers stopped to investigate a vehicle parked in the fire lane of the mall, said the Yorktown Police.

Having lost most of its sales amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Macy's says it will furlough most of its workforce of 130,000, which includes its subsidiary retailers Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury.
Macy's made the announcement on Monday, March 30, about two weeks after all its stores closed on Wednesday, March 18 due to the outbreak.

Covid-19: Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom To Close All Stores
Three of the nation's largest retailers -- Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom -- will be closing their stores temporarily due to the spread of the novel strain of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Macy's said it would close all stores, including Bloomingdale's locations, at the end of the business day on Tuesday, March 17 through Tuesday, March 31. That's the same time frame for Nordstrom's scheduled closure.
