Residence Goes Up In Flames In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley residence was damaged in a blaze that took crews hours to put out.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Monday, April 16 around 2:40 a.m., when a residence in Brewster on Dingle Ridge Road went up in flames, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Responding fire crews from Lake Carmel, Brewster, Carmel, Croton Falls, and the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team were able to get the blaze under control after around two hours, firefighters said. The cause of the fire was not released.

Search For Missing Man Leads To Lake Carmel Closure Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police. Motorist Killed After Crashing Into Pillar In Front Of Hudson Valley Deli A 63-year-old man died after losing control of his vehicle and striking a pillar in front of a Hudson Valley deli, according to police in Putnam County. Edward Collins, of Holmes, a hamlet in the Town of Pawling, died around 7:30 a.m. Monday on Route 52, at Towners Road, after striking the pillar in front of Gino's Grab & Go Deli, said Kent Police Chief Alexander DiVernieri. According to the chief, Collins was driving a 2004 Saturn south on Route 52 when he crossed into the northbound lanes, going off the roadway, and hit the pillar.
