Fatal Crash: Northern Westchester Man ID'd After Slamming Into Toll Plaza Barrier
A Northern Westchester man died in a fiery crash that closed the New Jersey Turnpike Saturday morning, July 22, police said.
Henry Subin, age 77, of Katonah, was heading north in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he struck the concrete barrier of the toll plaza, overturned, and became fully engulfed in flames around 9:45 a.m. in Carneys Point Township, located in southwestern New Jersey in Salem County.
The crash, near milepost 2.4 on the northbound side, closed toll lanes for four hours.
Subin was killed as a result. The crash remains under investigation.
Police ID Victims In Double-Fatal Hudson Valley Crash
State Police have released the identities of two Hudson Valley residents who were killed during a two-vehicle crash that also injured six others.
Orange County residents Nelson Vivarcampoverde, age 48, and passenger Maria Abrigo, age 36, both from Middletown, were killed around 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 4, following the crash on Route 17 in Wallkill, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
The crash involved a 2005 Ford Escape operated by Orange County resident Anthony K. Jones, age 24, of Walden, and a 2004 Toyota Sienna, operated by Vivarcampoverde.

Ossining Man Airlifted After Head-On Crash Kills Three In Pennsylvania
Three people died and a Northern Westchester man was airlifted to a nearby hospital after a head-on motor-vehicle collision in Pennsylvania.
The crash happened in Haycock Township, located in Bucks County, around 11:40 p.m. Friday, June 4, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Initial reports say the two vehicles involved, each carrying two people, caught fire after crashing.

A 30-year-old man killed after being hit by two vehicles on I-87 has been identified.
Orange County resident Anthony Shipman III, of New Windsor, was found dead on the highway around 1:20 a.m., Sunday, March 8, after New York State Police responded to a call of a person sitting on the guide rail on the northbound side of the highway in the town of Newburgh, said state police.
An investigation at the scene found that David R. Kurtz, 48, of Walden, was driving his 2020 Chevy Blazer northbound when he struck Shipman, who was in the roadway for an unknown reason.
