Duo Nabbed For Drug Possession With Child Inside Car, State Police Say
Two men were arrested on a list of charges after being nabbed during a traffic stop for alleged possession of drugs including heroin while a child was in the vehicle.
The incident took place in Putnam County when the two men, Dutchess County resident Peter A. Wenzel, 39, of Poughkeepsie, and Ulster County resident Joseph C. Wayman, 33, of Saugerties, were arrested on Thursday, May 14, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
According to Hicks, the men were stopped around 9:15 p.m. in the town of Southeast on I-84, whole driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu.

Melissa Quesada, the New York State director of Latino affairs, reportedly allegedly attacked her partner on Sunday, Nov. 3 in her New Rochelle home and she was arrested by police on Thursday, Nov. 21, according to court papers obtained by The New York Post.

A father who left his 1-year-old twins in a hot car where they died while he was at work will have to wait a bit longer to learn his fate.
Rockland County resident Juan Rodriguez, 39, of New City, appeared briefly in court on Thursday, Dec. 5, hoping to learn if the Bronx district attorney will proceed with criminal charges, but the prosecutor requested another adjournment. They did not say what was holding up the process.

Area Dad Who Left Twins In Hot Car Won't Testify If Case Goes To Grand Jury, Lawyer Says
The attorney for a Hudson Valley dad who left his 1-year-old twins in a hot car in July, causing both of their deaths, said his client will not testify if the matter is sent to a grand jury.
Attorney Joey Jackson made the comment following a brief hearing on Thursday, Oct. 24, where prosecutors told Rockland resident Juan Rodriguez, of New City, that the matter had not been presented to a grand jury and the case was once again adjourned until Dec. 5.

Westchester Pastor Charged In Brutal Killing Of Estranged Wife, DA Says
A 63-year-old pastor from Westchester has been charged with murder, manslaughter and other charges for allegedly running over his estranged wife and then hacking her with a machete.
Victor Mateo, of Yonkers, a pastor at the Christian Congregation The Redeemer Church in the Bronx, was arraigned Tuesday, Oct. 22, for the murder which took place on Thursday, Oct. 3, said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark.
According to an investigation, at about 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 3, Mateo parked his vehicle near the home of Noelia Mateo, 58, on Ellsworth Avenue in Throgs Neck.
