Thanks to the quick action from an off-duty police officer and fire captain from Westchester, a retired firefighter who collapsed after a basketball game is on the mend.
The incident happened on Monday, March 6, when retired New York City Fire Department fire marshal commander CJ Kanelopoulos, age 49, came off the court at St. Joseph's Men's Club in Bronxville and passed out while drinking water.

Man Critically Injured In Saw Mill Parkway Crash
A man from Fairfield County was critically injured when his car veered off the Saw Mill River Parkway in Northern Westchester, struck two guide rails and went down an embankment.
The accident occurred about 2 a.m., Friday, Feb. 7, on the southbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Bedford at Harris Road, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
The 2002 Ford Focus left the roadway, striking a guide rail adjacent to the right lane of travel, O'Leary said.

Area Home Where Three Were Overcome By Fumes Had No Carbon Monoxide Sensors
There were no carbon monoxide sensors in a home where three people were found unconscious on Tuesday, Ramapo Police said.
The three, two teens, ages 14 and 16, and a 54-year-old woman, were found unconscious by a man who lives in the Bolger Lane home after being overcome by fumes around 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, said Ramapo Police Lt. Chris Franklin.
All three are hospitalized and in stable condition early Wednesday, March 6, said Franklin.

According to Dr. Steven Beenstock, family medicine physician at Bon Secours Medical Group, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), when the heat index rises above 90°F, so does the risk for heatstroke.
Heatstroke is the medical emergency that occurs when your core temperature rises above 104°F due to exposure to elevated temperatures. “Someone suffering from heatstroke will feel hot, with red, dry skin and shallow breathing," said Beenstock.
