Several pets, including cats, a dog, and a rabbit, were pulled out of a burning home in Westchester during a blaze that left eight people displaced. The fire began on Thursday, Feb. 1 just before 6:45 p.m. at a Mount Vernon residence on South 10th Avenue, city officials announced. A fire at a senior living complex in Northern Westchester sent 11 residents to a hospital and has displaced those living on an entire floor of a building, fire officials said. Three firefighters were injured battling a blaze in a Westchester home filled with clutter and junk. The fire took place around 3:56 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, at a single-family home located on the 100 block of Scott Avenue in Yonkers, said Deputy Chief Joseph Citrone. An electrical fire at a business complex in Westchester is believed to have been started by a lightning strike. The fire began amid a round of severe storms around 7:15 p.m., Monday, July 22, at 777 Old Saw Mill River Road, in Hawthorne, where Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is located, said the Hawthorne Fire Department. Firefighters managed to save a majority of religious items and artifacts during a fire at the Chabad Jewish Center in Bedford Hills. The fire started around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the center located on Railroad Avenue, said Bedford Hills Fire Chief Jason Nickson. More than 60 residents of a Mamaroneck apartment complex are without homes following a fire that sent nine people to the hospital for smoke inhalation, according to Town of Mamaroneck Fire Chief Paul Tortorella.The department received the call for a mattress fire around 4:12 a.m. Friday in a fourth-floor apartment at 3 Dillon Road, the chief said.
