Storm With Damaging Winds Prompts All-Hands Response From Fire Departments, Utility Companies
Some 500 residents across the area dealing with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and stay home orders remain without power following the storm system that ripped through the area.
The storms, which caused winds gusting as high as 60 mph toppling trees, as well as flooding, and downed trees and utility lines, also caused widespread power outages, starting Monday morning, April 13.
By Wednesday, April 15, all area utility companies, including Central Hudson, Con Ed, NYSEG, and O&R, reported they expected to have most outages back up and running by later in the day.

Thousands Without Power As Storm Slams Westchester

Thousands are without power in Westchester and Putnam as a line of severe storms battered the area with heavy downpours, damaging winds and hail just as the evening commute began on Tuesday.
As of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, NYSEG reported 22,081 outages among its 32,806 customers in the areas it serves in Northern Westchester.
In Putnam, 27,705 of 38,310 customers were without power.
Con Ed reported 325 outages impacting 5,015 customers, including more than 300 customers in Sleepy Hollow, Ossining, Cortlandt, Eastchester, Irvington, Ossining, Yonkers and Bedford…

Nearly 54,000 Con Ed customers are still without power Sunday in Westchester following the damaging Nor’easter that brought soaking rains, snow, sustained winds and powerful wind gusts to the area Friday.
Among Con Ed's 348,198 customers in the county, 53,394 are without power Saturday morning.
Another 22,000 in Northern Westchester serviced by NYSEG are also still minus power Saturday morning, bringing the total in Westchester to more than 75,000.

More Than 61K Con Ed Customers Still Without Power In Westchester
More than 61,000 Con Ed customers are still without power Saturday morning in Westchester following a damaging Nor’easter that brought soaking rains, snow, sustained winds and powerful wind gusts to the area Friday.
Among Con Ed's 348,198 customers in the county, 61,462 are without power Saturday morning.
Another 22,000-plus in Northern Westchester serviced by NYSEG are also still minus power Saturday morning, bringing the total in Westchester to more than 83,000.
