National Champions: Cheer Team From Hudson Valley Wins Big Members of a high school cheerleading team from the Hudson Valley are now national champions.  The Mahopac High School Varsity Cheerleading team emerged as the national champions after winning the National Cheerleaders Association High School Nationals, which was held in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, Jan. 21, and Sunday, Jan. 22.  The team participated in the Intermediate Coed Varsity Crowd Performance category, where they ranked first.   Wow!!! Thousands Raised To Help Cheerleading Team In Westchester Compete In National Championship A community is pulling together to help give a Westchester County cheerleading team the opportunity of a lifetime.  Thousands of dollars have been raised for the Mount Vernon High School Cheerleading team, which has qualified to compete in the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, according to head coach Mekiyah Knox.  To be able to compete in the championship though, which will be held from Friday, Feb. 10 through Sunday, Feb. 12, the team needs to raise money to pay for travel expenses, lodging fees, accommodations…

North Rockland HS Cheerleaders Win 70th Westchester County Invitational Some local cheerleaders have a little more pep in their step than usual after being crowned as champions. North Rockland High School earned top honors at the 70th annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational, which was held at the County Center in White Plains. Several individual cheerleaders and coach Tanya Kelsch also earned individual accolades. The 22-member squad won the Grand Championship with a series of flips, twists, spins and other gymnastic moves to conquer the competition.
