Police Hold Active Shooter Training At Elementary School In Northern Westchester
A training exercise was held at an elementary school in Northern Westchester to prepare police and first responders for active shooter incidents. The training was held on Wednesday night, Oct. 19, at the Mount Kisco Elementary School at 47 West Hyatt Ave., according to Westchester County Police. At the school, drills were held that focused on protocols and procedures that should be used by first responders during a mass shooting, police said. Public Safety Department To Hold Active Shooter Training For County Residents In Mount Kisco
The Westchester County Department of Public Safety has scheduled an active shooter training seminar for county residents. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course was built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) in 2004. As a whole, the course is designed to provide strategies and proven techniques for surviving an active shooter event. As part of the Westchester County Police’s ongoing initiatives to safeguard Westchester’s schools, the County Police will once again be holding a series of training classes and exercises this school year for educators and first responders from police, fire and EMS agencies.
