Michael Kulp and his Ossining-based MAK Fitness Center have joined with USA Karate and Elite Cage Challenge to host the the championship-caliber martial arts show. Fighters from Mount Vernon, Tarrytown, Ossining and other Westchester communities are competing.
"All the fighter's slots are filled in all weight classes," Kulp said. "There have been good ticket sales with more to come at the door. We will also be showing the Ultimate Fighting Championships 154-pound fight that night at the after-party. Ticket holders for our fights can stay for the event."
Kulp, who opened the MAK Fitness Center less than two years ago, has seen growth in gym and the sport of mixed martial arts.
"In the year and a half we have been open our competition team has won eight different amateur titles," Kulp said. "We currently have six different champions training at our gym. We're doing very well and have a good group of fighters."
MAK Fitness Center offers instruction in boxing, mauy Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu and trains youngsters in karate. MKA is working with USA Karate and top mixed martial arts fighter John Carlo on the November event. For more information about MAK Fitness, call 914-490-2525 or email makfitnesscenter@yahoo.com.
