Ossining's Harrell, De la Cruz Win Beacon Titles

BEACON, N.Y. -- Devonte Harrell (160 pounds) and Alex De la Cruz (113) won their respective weight classes at the Beacon Wrestling Tournament Sunday.

Harrell, who went 3-0, improving to 20-3 on the season, decisioned Alex Munoz of Saugerties, 11-8, in the final. This followed a pin and decision in Harrell’s first two matches.

De la Cruz opened with a pair of victories before pinning Valley Central’s Hussain Hasan at 4:24 of the title match. De la Cruz is now 22-4 this season.

Trent Lofaro (195) advanced to the championship semifinals, but lost there. He rebounded by winning his two consolation matches, including the third-place bout -- 2-1 over Arlington’s Matt Day.
