Ossining Ready To Tackle Nyack In Football Opener

OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Pride football team knows it will be in for tough games on a weekly basis.

Ossining opens the season against Nyack at 7 p.m. Friday.

“Since we are doing power scheduling, all of our games are tough,” Ossining coach Dan Ricci said. “There are no breaks on our schedule.”

Last year, the Pride advanced to the semifinals of the Section 1 Class A Championships before Poughkeepsie ended its season.

Ossining comes into the game with a talented, returning senior core led by running back Stephen Candelaria and lineman Trent Lofaro. Junior Joshua Davidov steps in at quarterback for the graduated Brian Connolly, a freshman at Bucknell. Davidov led Ossining to a couple of wins last year when Connolly was hurt.

Ricci said the team played well in a scrimmages and is ready to take the field.

“I think the team is excited, confident and well-prepared for the game,” Ricci said.
