Ossining Girls Reach Class AA State Basketball Championship Game

TROY, N.Y. -- Saddled with personal fouls in the first half, the Ossining girls basketball team used a fourth-quarter surge to defeat Gates-Chili High School 69-62 in the state Class AA semifinals at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

The Section 1 and defending Class AA state champion Pride lifted their record to 21-2 and will play either Section 3's Cicero-North Syracuse (19-5) or Section 8's Baldwin (17-2) Saturday for a second straight title.

Ossining (21-5) outscored Gates-Chili 27-20 in the fourth quarter for it 16th straight win with the help of the Pride bench.

Jennifer Lividini has a career-high 19 points to lead the Pride in scoring when her teammates suffered with foul trouble.

Starters Janay Knowles (3 fouls) and Shadeen Samuels (2) were in foul trouble in the first quarter of what would be a tight game through three quarters.  The teams tied 15-15 after one quarter, 26-26 at halftime and 42-42 after three.

Starting guard Stefanie Svoboda has a strong game and eight grader Helen Ishmael and junior Alicia Sanchez, who gave the Pride a 45-42 lead early in the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer, helped in the win.
